Invisalign / Clear Aligners

Nearly invisible aligners that gradually straighten teeth without metal braces.

Clear aligners are a modern way to straighten teeth without metal braces. A series of custom-fit, nearly invisible trays gradually shifts your teeth into place. Most patients can take them out for meals, brushing, and photos — and most people will not even notice you are wearing them.

What it is

Invisalign and similar clear aligner systems use a series of plastic trays — each a tiny bit different from the last — to move your teeth one small step at a time. You wear each tray for about one to two weeks and then switch to the next one.

Clear aligners can address:

  • Crowded teeth
  • Gaps and spaces
  • Mild to moderate overbite, underbite, or crossbite
  • Teeth that have shifted after old orthodontics
  • Bite issues that contribute to wear or jaw discomfort

Severe cases sometimes still call for traditional braces. We will be honest about whether aligners are the right tool for your specific situation.

What to expect

Treatment with clear aligners usually takes 6 to 18 months, depending on how much movement is needed. The process looks like this:

  1. Consult — exam, X-rays, and photos. We tell you whether you are a candidate and what to expect.
  2. Scan — a digital scan of your teeth replaces the goopy impressions of years past. You can usually see a preview of your final smile that same visit.
  3. Aligners — your custom set of trays arrives in a few weeks. We show you how to wear, switch, and clean them.
  4. Check-ins — short visits every six to eight weeks to make sure things are moving as planned.
  5. Retainers — once your teeth are in their new position, retainers keep them there.

You wear the aligners about 20 to 22 hours a day, taking them out to eat and to brush your teeth. The most common adjustment is getting used to wearing them all day — once that becomes routine, treatment moves smoothly.

Who it’s for

Clear aligners may be a good fit if you:

  • Want to straighten your teeth without visible braces
  • Have mild to moderate crowding, gaps, or bite issues
  • Are an adult or older teen who is committed to wearing the trays as directed
  • Are about to start cosmetic work and want to align your teeth first
  • Had braces years ago but your teeth have shifted

Cost depends on how complex your case is and how long treatment takes. After your consult, we give you a clear estimate and review your insurance coverage and financing options before you commit.
